A half century ago, in the little town of Corpus Christi, Texas, a young man named Harmon Dobson
had a simple idea. He wanted to serve a burger so good that whenever someone tried one
they'd sit back and say, "What a burger!" This bigger, better burger with 100% pure American
beef, fresh ingredients and a big 5-inch toasted bun was an instant hit. There are now more than
650 restaurants in ten states. Through it all however, we've remained a family-owned and
operated business because operating any other way wouldn't be true to who we are.

Our focus in 1950 is still our focus today. We work hard to provide an experience that exceeds our
customers' expectations at every level. And we work hard to deliver the best products with dignity
and respect, so that our customers will continue to say "What a burger!" every time. That is the
Whataburger difference.

A huge part of our success is due to the quality people that work for us. After Harmon Dobson founded
the first Whataburger it didn't take him long to realize that if he valued people as family, he'd be successful
no matter how many burgers he sold. That's why we refer to all Whataburger employees as Family Members
and support them through programs such as WhataGames and The Whataburger Family Foundation.

family foundation

The Whataburger Family Foundation is a support system funded by Family Members to help each other
in times of need. Each week, thousands of Family Members contribute part of their salary to help others
during emergencies and family crisis. The Whataburger Family Foundation also assists Family Members
and their immediate family in the cost of continuing education through our scholarship program.

whatagames

WhataGames is a company-wide burger Olympics held every 2 years. It's a fun way for us to promote
quality in the restaurant and build camaraderie among Family Members. Through the course of a long
weekend, select crews from the best performing stores in each region gather and compete for prize
money in a series of trivia and service-based contests.
